Why 09G2S is specified for low temperature
09G2S is a low carbon manganese-silicon steel. The low carbon content is what keeps the impact toughness at sub-zero temperature, and that is the reason the grade appears in machinery and structures delivered to Russia, Kazakhstan and the far north. Strength values come from the grade standard; the tube dimension standard, GOST 8734-75, only fixes the size range and tolerances, so both documents belong on the order.

Delivery group, not just grade
The same size in the same grade can arrive with very different paperwork. One order gets a chemistry certificate only, another gets tensile and flattening results, a third adds a hydrostatic test. That difference is set by the delivery group in the Russian system, so it has to be written on the order. If your customer sends a drawing with a group letter you do not recognise, send it to us and we will confirm what tests it implies before quoting.
Packing and export
Annealed tube is softer and dents more easily than as-drawn tube, so bundles are kept compact and the strapping is padded. Tubes are oiled and end-capped, wrapped and, for sea freight to the Baltic or the Black Sea, shipped in wooden cases where the customer asks. Documents are issued in English; Russian language marking on the bundles can be arranged if the end user needs it.

Quality and packing: tubes are protected with anti-rust oil and packed seaworthy, in wooden cases where agreed. Each lot is tested for chemical composition, yield and tensile strength, flattening, elongation and dimensions, with visual inspection and NDT available on request.
