What buyers call it, and where it sits on this site

The words customers use for this material come from four different trades, and none of them matches the mill’s own language. The table takes the usual enquiry wording and points it at the page that holds the sizes and tolerances.

Wording in the enquiry What it usually means Where to look
steel round tube, steel tubing Round tube to an OD and wall, any standard Precision steel tube or seamless steel tube
carbon steel tubes, carbon steel tubing 20#, 1020, E235, STKM 11A: the ordinary low-carbon grades Seamless steel tube
steel metal tube, steel hollow tube Generic wording with no standard attached Seamless steel tube, then send the drawing
alloy steel tubing, alloy steel tube 4130, 4140 and other chrome-moly grades ASTM A519, 4130 chromoly
hydro tubes, hydraulic tubing Tube for hydraulic lines or cylinder barrels Hydraulic cylinder tube
1.5 steel tubing, 1 inch tubing A size written in inches rather than millimetres 1.5 inch DOM tube, or ask for the metric equivalent
pipe steel supplies, steel pipe wholesalers Purchasing language: a stockist or a mill that can supply Any group page, or send the list for a quotation
buying steel tubing Early-stage research before a drawing exists The group pages, then the quotation form

Two entries are missing on purpose. We do not draw square or rectangular section, so steel box tubing is not in the list, and ASTM A36 a36 steel tube is a structural plate standard rather than a tube specification, so a drawing quoting A36 is converted to a grade we can actually certify before quoting.

FAQ

Which product group should I start from?

Start from the part rather than the name: a cylinder barrel goes to hydraulic cylinder tube, a shock absorber body to DOM or precision tube, a pressure line to seamless, and anything that must survive outside to galvanized. If the drawing is already written to a standard, the standard page holds the tolerances.

Do you supply small quantities?

Yes. We quote from a single length for a trial order up to container loads, and the price per metre is confirmed against the steel price on the day of the order rather than held for months.

Can you cut to length and deburr?

Yes, tube can be supplied in random 4-7 m lengths, in fixed lengths, or cut to size with deburred ends so that it goes straight into the machine.

Are the sizes on the pages the only sizes you make?

No. The tables list what moves most often. Sizes outside them are drawn or rolled to order, with a longer lead time and usually a minimum quantity per size.

How it actually ships: every loaded order is photographed and recorded – the sizes, the wrapping, the marking and the container. See the shipment records →
